Well now, let me tell y’all about this place called Cinnabar Theater in Louisville, CO. I ain’t no fancy city person, but I reckon it’s somethin’ worth talkin’ about. Y’all mighta heard of Regal Cinebarre Boulder too, well, that’s the one in Louisville that used to show all them fancy movies, but I hear it ain’t there no more. The University of Colorado Boulder bought it up! They paid a big ol’ pile of money for it, somethin’ like 10 million dollars. Ain’t that somethin’?
This here Cinnabar Theater was right over at 1164 W. Dillon Road. Real easy to find, you just head down that road, and there it was, sittin’ there all proud like. It used to be a real popular place for folks to come and see movies. You could get your tickets, pick your seat, and even buy you some popcorn if you were hungry. I’ve seen folks go in there, all excited to see the new flicks, and they’d come out chattin’ about what happened in the movie.
But now, I reckon that spot ain’t what it used to be. They’ve shut it down! Yep, the doors closed up tight on May 23rd, 2023, and now the place is gonna turn into somethin’ else. Looks like CU Boulder plans to build somethin’ new on that land. Might be houses, or who knows what else they’ll put there, but it sure ain’t gonna be no movie theater anymore. Y’all probably wonderin’ why they did that, well, I don’t rightly know, but I guess it’s all about that big ol’ money and what people want these days.
Now, I ain’t here to get all upset about it, ’cause things change, I know that much. But I will say, it’s kinda sad to see a good ol’ place like that go. I remember when my cousin Maybel and her husband Jack used to go there all the time. They’d sit down with their popcorn and watch them new movies, just like any other folks. And I reckon there’s a lot of folks who miss it, too. I hear people talkin’ about how they miss goin’ to the theater, sittin’ down with all them folks, and watchin’ a good movie on the big screen.
So if you’re in Louisville, CO, and you’re lookin’ for a place to watch a movie now, you might have to look somewhere else. There’s the Cinemark Tinseltown in Louisville, KY, over by where the other theaters are. You might find somethin’ to suit your fancy there. But it’s just not the same, is it? No matter where you go, it’s hard to forget the good ol’ places like Cinnabar Theater that used to be.
Now, if you’re just here wonderin’ what happened to this ol’ movie theater, I reckon I can tell ya it’s gone, but there’s still some memories of it left hangin’ in the air. If you ever passed by there, you might still smell the buttered popcorn or hear the sounds of people laughin’ or gaspin’ at the movies. It was a good time, wasn’t it? I sure miss it.
In the end, though, things gotta change, and that’s what’s happenin’ now. If you ever find yourself missin’ it like I do, you can always head over to the new places, or just sit back and remember all them good ol’ times spent at the theater. Ain’t that what we all do, just hold on to those memories and keep movin’ forward?
