Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Fiestaware Cinnabar stuff. I don’t know much about fancy words or nothin’, but I know what I like, and this here Fiestaware, it’s somethin’ else.
I first saw it over at my neighbor, Martha’s place. She had this whole set, plates, bowls, cups, even a pitcher. All this shiny, red color. She called it “cinnabar.” Sounded like some kinda snake medicine to me, but it sure was pretty.
Martha, she told me it’s called Fiestaware. Said it’s been around a long time, real popular. Folks collect it, like they collect stamps or them little porcelain dolls. I never understood that, but I gotta say, these dishes, they got somethin’ special.
Now, I ain’t no expert, mind you. But from what I gather, this Fiestaware cinnabar, it’s a kinda orangey-red color. Real bright and cheerful. Makes your food look better, even if it’s just beans and cornbread. And the dishes themselves, they’re sturdy. Martha said she’s dropped ’em a few times, and they didn’t even chip. That’s good, ’cause I ain’t got the money to be replacin’ dishes all the time.
- They got all sorts of pieces, you know. Plates, big ones and small ones. Bowls for soup or cereal. Cups for coffee or tea. And them pitchers, they’re just the right size for lemonade on a hot day.
- I even seen some folks sellin’ ’em online, on that eBay thing my grandson showed me. They got all kinds of prices, some cheap, some not so cheap. I guess it depends on how old it is and what kinda shape it’s in.
Martha told me the old colors, like the red, they used to put somethin’ called “uranium” in the glaze to make it that color. Sounded scary to me, but she said it ain’t enough to hurt ya. Just makes it glow a little under a black light. I don’t know nothin’ about that, but it sounds kinda neat, I guess.
Fiestaware, it ain’t just about the color, though. It’s got these rings around the edges, like little circles goin’ round and round. Martha said that’s their signature look. And the glaze, it’s real smooth and shiny. Easy to clean, which is important when you got a house full of grandkids.
I seen some other colors too, not just the cinnabar. There’s a yellow one, a blue one, a green one, all sorts of colors. But that cinnabar, that’s the one that catches my eye. It’s just so… vibrant. Like a sunset or a poppy flower.
If you’re lookin’ for some good, sturdy dishes that look nice too, I’d say this Fiestaware cinnabar is a good bet. It ain’t the cheapest stuff around, but it’ll last ya a long time. And it’ll make your kitchen look a whole lot prettier, too. Just don’t go droppin’ it on purpose, even if Martha says it’s tough. Dishes are dishes, after all, and they ain’t meant to be bounced around like a rubber ball.
I’m thinkin’ ’bout gettin’ myself a few pieces. Maybe a plate or two, and definitely one of them pitchers. That cinnabar color, it just makes me happy. And who couldn’t use a little more happy in their life, right?
So, that’s my two cents on Fiestaware cinnabar. It’s pretty, it’s sturdy, and it’s got a history. What more could you want from a dish? Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some biscuits. And you can bet, if I had that Fiestaware, I’d be servin’ ‘em right on it.
And one last thing, If you see some of that old Fiesta stuff at a yard sale or somethin’, snatch it up quick! Folks are always lookin’ for it, and you might just get yourself a good deal. Just make sure it ain’t chipped or cracked, unless you don’t mind that sort of thing. Me, I like my dishes to be in one piece, thank you very much.
